11 SEO Tips And Tricks
Note that these SEO tips and tricks are for on-page SEO. To make a website SEO optimized, both on-page and off-page SEO are necessary!
1. Relevant Content
Make sure your content is engaging and is not plagiarized. Google doesn’t like it when you rip off others’ content (nobody likes it for that matter).
Ensure your content and title contain relevant keywords. Don’t stuff keywords into your blog post just because they were trending at that time.
Write what your audience likes, what is necessary and not about you. Remember that it is about providing value and not talking about yourself. Get to the point. Check your grammar, spelling and sentence construction.
The content you write has to be easy to read. Do not use too many complicated words. Also, write back-link worthy content. This means that many websites will link to yours if it is relevant and exceptional.
2. Title Tags
The title tag should be related to your content along with relevant URLs. This is what appears on the search results and you don’t want to have a URL slug that Google doesn’t approve of because it had no relevancy to your content. Title tags should basically summarize your entire post in one sentence.
3. Logical Structure
It is easier to crawl through webpages that have some structure to it. By structure I mean the header tags.
If you have correctly ordered header tags for each heading in H1, H2, etc in HTML format, it tells search engines that they are important as H1 means it is the first heading. This will make Google index your web pages better because of how well structured your post is.
4. Meta Description
I cannot stress enough on how important this is!! Meta description is the synopsis or summary of your post. After the title tag, it is the meta description that appears on the search results.
As there are many options to choose from for the user on SERPs, make sure your meta description is on point. This will change your SEO game.
Is your content neat, structured and readable? You might want to check how your content looks on both desktops and mobiles.
Remember that most of the users are looking up for that cake recipe on their mobiles! Check your site speed so that it it isn’t too slow for Google to not rank your site.
6. Image ALT Attribute
Image ALT attribute is an important part of SEO website design. By this I mean, whenever you add an image to your post, make sure you add an ALT attribute.
This ALT attribute should contain the primary/important keyword.
Best practice of image ALT attribute is writing the keyword first and finishing it off with the word “image”.
7. URL Slug Separation (-)
URL is what people use to look up a website. Make sure the URL slug is related to your keyword. Another important part is URL slug separation. Use hyphens ( – ) instead of underscores ( _ ).
Ensure that your URLs are brief and descriptive. The URL should give the users and idea of what your post is about.

Make sure you use static URLs over dynamic URLs. Static URLs are custom and you have to write them for every post. Dynamic URLs on the other hand are default URLs WordPress uses if you do not give a URL.

8. Keyword Usage
Majority of SEO tips and tricks include keywords and the right usage of them. Keywords make or break your post. So, doing your keyword research is a necessity.
Use relevant keywords in title tags, headings, sub-headings, meta description, image alt attributes and URL tags.
9. Long Tail + Short Tail Keywords
There are two types of keywords: long tail and short tail. While short tail keywords generate a lot more traffic, it is a very high competition. Long tail keywords on the other hand have a relatively low competition but generate lesser traffic.
Example for Short tail keyword: “seo optimization“
Example for Long tail keyword: “how does seo optimization work”
So, the best way to SEO optimize your website is by using a combination of both long tail and short tail keywords. Make sure your keywords fit into your content seamlessly! Keyword stuffing is a big no no.
10. Social Media
Using social media to generate traffic is the best way to get started when you are a beginner with zero connections. Anything from Pinterest to Instagram to Twitter to Facebook works.
To multiply the traffic, you can join groups where you can share your posts and pins etc. This way your content is exposed to people in the same niche.
Most groups on Facebook or Pinterest have 1:1 rule where for any one post you share, you need to share another member’s.
11. Linking Strategy
Apart from writing back-link worthy content, you can step up the SEO optimization for your website by linking your own posts that are relevant.
Whenever doing so, never link a post to the words click here!
Example: To know more about SEO tips and tricks, click here!
What you can do instead is to link your post to the relevant keywords. By not doing this, you are missing out on a good SEO optimization technique!
These were some SEO tips and tricks that are commonly used and will benefit you in the long run. The basics of SEO is patience and perseverance. You will not end on SERPs the day you publish your post. It takes time. So, don’t worry and keep creating quality content.
